Graphic design students Chloe, Sophie and Josephine have spent the last 4 weeks interning at The Pudding helping us out with all things design! They have been working on client projects, pitching their design ideas and generally doing an amazing job. Here, they reflect on their experience and all that they have learned. We’ll miss you girls!
HAVE YOU ENJOYED YOUR TIME AT THE PUDDING? WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE ASPECT?
C: The Pudding welcomed me with warm smiles and encouraging advice. I was given a variety of projects and assignments which ranged from research, assisting with logos, social media graphics and brochure designs. Not only did I pick up new skills during my internship, but I also got exposure to different areas of design and how a business is run. The Pudding has been a very enjoyable and memorable experience.
S: Working with The Pudding has been a lovely experience. I sensed a great vibe from the very first friendly phone call, knowing I’d love to gain experience with the creative team. We were made welcome from the minute we stepped in the door with a lovely atmosphere in the office every day since. The professionalism, friendliness and enthusiasm is what makes The Pudding.
J: Pizza! Pizza! Pizza! I had great time at The Pudding. My favourite aspect was getting some practical experience on real client projects.
WHAT DID YOU LEARN?
C: I learned a lot about time management and how to divide my time between different projects. I learned not just about graphic design, but how creative and strategy work together to deliver passionate work for clients. I got to see how to communicate with clients in a professional way.
S: The staff in The Pudding are always ready to listen and help make our learning experience so beneficial, including us in many aspects of the business and projects as possible. I particularly enjoyed working on live briefs and receiving feedback from the staff and clients’ needs. I have been subjected to the business side of design, preparing presentations, pitching to clients, winning a client and making that client happy. My time at The Pudding alone has been a great eye-opening experience, shaping my perspective on all the different steps involved in each creative brief.
J: I learned to design for purpose and come up with solutions for clients, rather than only designing for creativity.
WHAT WILL YOU TAKE FROM THE PUDDING INTO YOUR CAREER GOING FORWARD?
C: That it’s good to seek advice and to get feedback on your work. Always experiment with your work and keep an open mind. Also, the importance of time management.
S: I have gained a huge insight into the design industry which will prepare me for a job when I finish college. My experience here will benefit my future in areas such as time management, seeking advice and dealing with clients in a professional manner.
J: The working attitude and how to work in a relaxed but very efficient environment.
